Paxman's Angling Club

Welcome

Hi, welcome to Paxman’s Angling Club’s website.

The club was founded in 1950 by the workers at Davey Paxman and Co., an engineering firm based in Colchester. The club was, for many decades, run as a works club, and was one of many sports sections of Paxman’s Athletic and Social Club. During the middle to late nineties, with the continual reduction of the Company and subsequent demise of the Social Club, the Angling club, through the endeavours of the Committee continued as an independent open membership club.
Today we are a friendly thriving club, which welcomes all anglers albeit pleasure, specimen, carp or match, with our club waters holding fish that will cater for every discipline.

Membership overview

We have seven categories of membership: Senior, O.A.P. Concessionary, Intermediate (16 to 18), Junior (12 to 16), Junior (11 and under), and Non Angler. Current prices can be found on our online application form.

We allow night fishing, at an extra cost, on all waters apart from St Osyth Lake 1 (The Rectangle).

We now offer Winter Tickets which run from the 1st November to the 31st March and include night fishing.

Guest tickets are available to purchase by members only.

We currently have 5 reservoirs and 2 lakes, full details of which can be found by navigating the website.

Ramsey Brook Lake 1, Wix and Home Farm, Ardleigh, are our specimen waters with Carp to 40 lbs and Catfish to 90 lbs

St Osyth lake 1 and 2, Ramsey Brook lake 1, Wix, and Decoy Pond, Brantham, are heavily stocked, mainly with Carp, with match weights consistantly over 100 lbs, with the record standing at 314 lbs.

Alresford can only be described as a tradional all round fishery, with a good stock of an old english strain of Carp up to 30 lbs; with some bonus Grass Carp up to 34 lbs.

I hope this brief introduction has wetted your appetite and I hope to see you on the bank sometime.
